The forth year (1985) of the historic American Prospector series of Bullion coins. This series is the first bullion round that was made available for the public to purchase and hold.
1985 is the first year that Prospector rounds were issued solely with the Eagle on the reverse, where as the year before Eagle reverse and large 'E' logo coins were both produced.
This year 1985 all rounds show an American Eagle on the reverse with the words 'ENGELHARD' and 'ONE TROY OUNCE 999+ FINE SILVER'. The front of the round shows an American Prospector panning for Gold the date 1985, U.S.A. and the words 'THE AMERICAN PROSPECTOR'.
These were minted in limited quantities and are no longer being manufactured, also being the first series of bullion rounds produced and available to the public all makes this series highly collectable.
